Vitamin C is arguably the most important essential nutrient**, but when it is in an isolated or synthetic form, it is quite poorly absorbed and can actually adversely affect our health!

According to one human study, 1500 mg (total) of isolated or synthetic vitamin C per day can cause iron deficiency and anemia!*

Most of the isolated and/or synthetic vitamin C consumed is unused by the body. What's worse, it puts a negative strain on your liver and kidneys to excrete it, and it is quite acid forming in the body! If a vitamin C is an ingredient of a product, it is synthetic and/or isolated. If it is naturally contained in the ingredient(s), it is naturally occurring (as it is in our product)!

Ascorbic Acid and Calcium Ascorbate are synthetic/isolated forms of Vitamin C. "Ester-C" (for example) has a few elements added back to an isolated vitamin C molecule and is therefore more absorbable than Ascorbic Acid or Calcium Ascorbate. However, Truly Natural Vitamin C has all of the naturally occurring elements synergistically present and bonded (including naturally occurring bioflavonoids) because it is 100% food (100% Acerola Cherry Powder).

Truly Natural Vitamin C contains naturally occurring Vitamin C in a powdered form. It is non-toxic in low or high dosages, highly absorbable, and therefore is rarely excreted (expensive waste) through your urine.

Vitamin C never occurs as an isolate in nature. It is always a part of an entire Vitamin C complex.

Why is Vitamin C so important?

** The main role in our bodies for Vitamin C is NOT as an antioxidant. The main need we have for Vitamin C is to make our collagen strong. Collagen is the main structural protein in our bodies and without sufficient Vitamin C the collagen we create is of a low grade. This low grade collagen can be responsible for weak coronary arteries that result in the formation of plaques. These blood vessels in our brains may also weaken due to weak collagen. And other weak body tissues, as well.

The greatest concentration of Vitamin C in our tissues is in the eye. The purpose of this abundance of Vitamin C is to maintain clarity in the lens, and to prevent the cross-linking that causes lens inflexibility and problems focusing.

The data on mammals and vitamin C tells a convincing story. Most animals make their vitamin C in their liver or kidneys. The animals that do NOT make vitamin C are the guinea pig, fruit bat, the primates, and humans. Humans do have the code to manufacture vitamin C in their DNA but it is not translated. Animals such as goats can make up to 13,000 mg of vitamin C daily, but while stressed by infection a goat can make 100,000 mg of vitamin C per day.

Scientific studies have shown that vitamin C producing animals can automatically step up their endogenous production of vitamin C tenfold in response to stress, such as from the administration of drugs.

Albert Szent-Gyorgyi MD, PhD was awarded the 1937 Nobel Prize for the discovery of vitamin C, in connection with biological combustion. Szent-Gyorgyi proposed that vitamin plays a significant role in the electron mechanics of the body. In fact, Vitamin C appears to be a most important stimulus to the flow of this body electricity.
